Here is the beginnings of a 1953 John Deere crawler. I am using the carcasses of two tractors. More pics to follow as it progresses.

Looks like a good winter project! You are lucky to have two to build one.

Project is going way too fast. Got to slow down as this is a winter project and it isn't even cold outside..

For a "winter" project you can take the left over parts adn build another one! Are you going to put a blade on it?

The thing is pretty well done. Next comes the hood, then I'll start on the undercarriage

Wow!  You are good, Dave.  Less than a month in and look what you have.  I notice the battery is hooked up.  Have you heard it run?

Dave;

Been almost a month since the last post on the "40". Have you made any more progress?

I replaced the complete under carriage on my Case 320 a few years ago. Was lucky to find a complete under carriage, minus tracks, from a Terra-Trac M-3 forklift in a local wrecking yard. Everything from the transmission to rails and idlers, plus a basket full of other parts. This machine had very few hours when someone threw a rod in it. I already had good tracks from an Oliver on the machine. I replaced everything from the differential to idlers and rollers. Paid $500.00 for the all the parts and sold all my old and left over parts for $275.00. Made a good cheap setup for it and now have 4 bottom rollers instead of 3 and a top roller it didn't have before.

It has been over two months now since your last report, Dave.  Are you out riding around on the 40?
