Looking for original style gas tank caps that fit the early Cat model 30 fender mounted long tanks. It takes 2, for both the gas and distillate.
Thanks

Dave,

I've got an early Thirty with the two compartment fuel tank.  The tank isn't much good as it is rusted through in many places.  But it does have a couple filler plugs.  They are pretty well seized in place.  I'll have to put some penetrating oil or heat to them to see if I can remove them.

These appear to be basically steel plugs similar to a pipe plug.

I'll try to get a picture of them and you can tell me if they are original or not.

Dave,

Here's some pictures.  Maybe you can tell if the caps are original.

George,
Those in the pic's appear to be the old style pipe plug. Maybe they're original, but I don't know. The cat book is very vague as to drawing or description, and I've heard they may also could have been brass. I've been told by the Holt people there is a guy named John Matta (sp?) who is making reproductions for around $40 per.
But again, I'd like to know what they look like before buyiing.
What year is yours? Mine belonged to my Grandfather who purchased it in 1929. Restored and painted back to original gray.
