That sound great Dave.  Are you hunting something or fishing?  I need to do another big game hunt and have aways wanted to go after antelope, elk, or moose.  I turn 40 this year, so hopefully I still have time to persue some more critters.

Is the show always the last weekend in August?

I'm hunting for pheasants, although I do find quite a few tractors.  Originally I hoped to see different tractors than I have at home, but most of the "good" tractors are gone.  I have brought home two or three in the past eight years.

We have deer and turkeys all over home, it's kind of fun to see them, but this year they just hang out in the front yard.  I guess they are so used to me they watch me as much as I watch them.  I have shot more deer standing on my front walk than I have from my deer blind :)

The cool weather we have been having has gotten me excited about heading out to South Dakota for my annual hunting trip.  This year it will be just me and my two boys (12&9).  We usually get to see quite a few tractors and watch portions of the harvest.  Does anyone know how the crops are fairing in southern MN and eastern SD?

I really need to make it down there one of these years, from the talk on the list, it sounds like it's the show to end all shows.  It sure would be nice to go to a show that has more than 30 tractors and little to no swap meet area.  Maybe next year...

I would rather bring an un-restored tractor to the show, they do seem to get more attention, especially if they have several "farmer" modifications to them.  I have the most fun bringing an old relic that runs better than most of the "restored" tractors.  I once bought a tractor from someone who told me "it's not an old tractor unless it has some grease/dirt on it"

I suppose you're right.  Maybe it's best if I just hang onto them.  Most are actually complete and would make good projects, every now and then I see someone advertise that they are looking for something that I have and one goes to a new home.  I just need to free up some space so I can find something else to fill it :)

I am thinking about cleaning out a few projects I will never get to.  I have about 15 tractors that could go, some need alot of work, some not too much.  I was thinking about organizing a parts tractor auction, I wonder if anyone would come?  I'd like to get several other people together to thin out their collections at the same time (get 100+ parts tractors).  Maybe a better idea would be a parts tractor swap, like they do with hockey equipment, but on a larger, heavier scale.  I have been disappointed by most "swap meets" where most of the stuff is flea market crap.  Do you think the idea would catch on?

John Deere / Unstyled B

I brought home my father-in-laws 1938 B this weekend.  The only thing it needs is a fender bracket, does anyone have one laying around?  It's cast iron and was one of the fatalities when the barn fell on it.  I could have the pieces welded up, but would like to try the replacement route first.  Thanks.

I check the boards all the time as well, but it just doesn't seem to be catching on, maybe there's just too many boards out there.  I also wonder how many people sit in front of a computer all day anymore, even the ATIS list has been lagging for the past several months.  Maybe all the questions in the antique tractor world have been answered?

Merton,

I don't think many people visit these forums.  Hopefully they will pick up some day.  Nice collection of engines, if only I had the time..

I guess I collect everything, but the stuff I have the most of is Mickey Mouse collectables, old and new, basically anything with Mickey on it.  I try to get to Disney World at least once every two years, it actually costs me more than this darn tractor hobby.

Anybody know where I can get a hog oiler?

George,

I think they are pretty universal, but I suspect they would bolt right up to a ford 8N, etc.  I really don't know what to do with them, but I thought they would make a nice conversation piece at a show.  I am fairly certain they are a 1-off version, but I'm certain I saw an old advertisement for them in one of my magazines, but ever since I bought them, I haven't been able to find it.  I think Antique Power did a piece on aftermarket items for ford tractors a few years ago and an old add for these were shown.  I'll find it one of these days.

I guess I had to wait until things thawed out a little.  Here's some pictures of what I have.  Has anyone ever seen such a thing?
