Charlie,

Good thread!  We'll have to see if we can come up with some more  puzzles like that.  I have one I'm thinking might be good, but don't know if I can upload pictures or not.  When Spencer flipped us to the new format I know I and others had problems uploading pictures.

I know! I know! :D

I won't post the answer so others can still keep wondering.

Tools, Trades and Engineering / Well equipped shop?

Charlie,

Not having a lot of machine tools just means your probably more a mechanic than a fabricator.  I may have more machine tools, but I'm not a machinist by any means.  I can make round things on the lathe and flat things on the mill, but most of what I do is trial and error, plus most of the stuff I do doesn't require exact dimensions to be usable.  Some day I hope to get enough skill to make something that is actually the right dimensions

This past weekend I got a J-head Bridgeport milling machine!  It's a 1960's model, so not very new but still much better than I had and was a reasonable price.

I've also got a 14x48 Clausing lathe.
A very old Kearney & Trecker horizontal mill with a Bridgeport J-head adapted to it.  Only paid $200 for it a few years ago and it was better than nothing, but it is too big for me and will try to get rid of it now that I have a real Bridgeport mill.

Also have an assortment of welders, stick, wire, oxy/acetylene, metal cutting bandsaw, hydraulic press, drill press, etc.

Never set it up, but I also have all the stuff for setting up a foundry.  Bought it from a high school that was closing their metal shop.

I guess I pretty much have a well equipped shop for working on engines/tractors.  Unfortunately, what I don't seem to have is the time to work out in the shop and actually get things done.  Hopefully, one of these years I'll get to retire and have more shop time although I'm sure you retired people will say that you still don't have time!

So.... to start a discussion:

What do you have in your shop?
What would you like to have that you don't currently have?

Pretty much have all the wood working tools and machines, but find even less time for woodworking.

Charlie,

Thanks for posting the picture.  It wasn't till you pointed it out that I could the right tire was on backwards.
It is pretty obvious once you know the tires are in fact directional.

Wondering if all tractor turf type tires are directional or if some of them are non-directional.

If I ever get some turf tires from my Farmall A mowing tractor, you can be sure I'll look them over closely before mounting them.

Thanks.

George

My sister-in-law forwarded this website link to me yesterday.  I have no idea how she found it.
The webpage is in Czech so I can't read any of it, but the video speaks for itself.

Note the microphone setup next to the tractor to pick up the exhaust sound.

Since Spencer changed the software the end of December I haven't been able to upload pictures.
Nothing to do with computer connection speed as I've tried from work (high speed) and home (DSL) and neither work.
Prior to the the change, I had no problem loading pictures.

Personally, I'd rather go back to old software version as the new software hasn't improved anything and created problems at the same time.

Unfortunately, it seems that Spencer made the changes then abandoned us again.

Just tried again to see if I could upload photos.  Still getting errors and can't do it.

Has anyone been in contact with Spencer?  I've tried sending him email at various addresses but so far no responses.
Also noticed that he hasn't been on the forum since he switched us over to the new format.

Seems a bit cruel to make major changes then not be around for any support when people are having problems with the changes.

Yep, looks like Charlie pretty much has a lock on it now unless the spammers take a couple weeks off so Dave can win.
Dave, you might consider pleading with the spammers to help you out although I doubt they read anything we post.:D

Only 16 to go now!

So Charlie, how do we determine the winner if it happens today as it likely will do?

I think I had the 29th and you have the 2nd.  Today, the 31st, is the middle between those two dates.

George,
I finally got to the fuel pump stage and guess what? The pump ypu sent me is a "mirror image" or exactly opposite in the mounting pattern. Someone told me it might fit an H or N model. Any idea where you got it?

Dave,

I bought a 2hp T engine many years ago and the parts I sent you were the last of the parts I got with the engine when I got it.  I've never had a H or N F-M.

Ralph,

I just tried again and still can't upload a picture.
The .jpg I'm trying is only 36k in size, so it is not a size problem.

I tried again last night from my home computer to upload a photo from my computer to an album.  It also failed.

So at the moment it sounds like you can link to a photo via a URL, but can not update a .jpg file into an album.

Spencer.... will you reply to this thread and let us know the status on this problem?

I just tried to add some photos from my computer desktop into one of my albums.

It doesn't work for me.  Don't know if it is working for other people or not.
