'round the pot-bellied stove / More tractors

I made a bottom for the fuel tank on my Titan 10-20. Complete details were posted on the AT mailing list. I still have to make the part where the outlet goes.

I'm going to have to check over here about once a week as I see Danny is back. Who's going to show up next? When I get a chance I'll post some pictures of dad's Cub we just painted--before it gets filthy on grass mowing detail!

I only know one fellow named Danny that tinkers with Olivers and he NEVER seems to post anymore......This wouldn't be D.T. would it?

The only swather I have ever seen is an IH--I think it was powered by a Wisconsin, but I am not certain. It looked to have been built in the 60's or 70's. Looks like running one would be fun!

Got a soft spot for old combines so I got to ask, where is the combine today and when was it last used?

Farmall Cub / Let's get a thread going!

Been around a lot of Cubs mowing grass. Likewise, lowboys, 154's, 184's etc. Bottom line to me is a Cub for mowing is about the equivalent of a decent lawn mower from the 70's. By the '80's so many mowers began using higher powered engines that they would out-mow a Cub. Today it's not uncommon to see over 20hp hung on a 48" deck on a riding mower.  A Cub with a 60" 3 blade deck is just not fast. However if you are not in a hurry, I think they are a good machine.
I liked the IH mower decks with the "overunning cutch" built into the pulley (was that just on the single blade 48" models?). It made shifting gears a lot easier. A more decent machine in my opinion is a Super A, 140 etc. You got enough hp there to get into some rather tall grass and still be able to handle it.
I guess part of my bias against using a Cub for mowing is that I never grew up with a tractor that small/underpowered. That said, dad has one he uses quite often. We completely rebuilt the engine and only mow lawns with it so it performs nicely.

Bet you wish that one was still in the family! We never had any family farm photos with equipment in them until around the 50's.

Thanks guys! I thought it was a crawler but am not familiar enough with them to ID a photo of one in that bad of condition.

What is the next to the last photo of? I see it has a Holt engine but can't tell if it is an early Crawler or some specialized machine.

Well Ralph, you me and about 20 other fellows are notorious for chewing the fat so I'll check in and contribute as much as I can:D Maybe we should give it a more agricultural term, like spreading "what the cows ate yesterday"

A special forum just for "chewing the fat"? I thought we had one called the tractor list!:) Oh, maybe we wouldn't ruffle any feathers this way!

Just like list traffic is sometimes slow, I suspect we will see the same thing here at times. Worst part is having to learn the new aliases!
