Looking for original style gas tank caps that fit the early Cat model 30 fender mounted long tanks. It takes 2, for both the gas and distillate.
Thanks

'round the pot-bellied stove / Posting pictures

How does one post a picture that is large enough to look at?  I posted 3 pictures of a Fairbanks engine the other day and had to keep sizing them down in order to be uploaded. The result was tiny thumbnails.

Tools, Trades and Engineering / Float Charger
« on: April 26, 2008, 09:54:03 AM »
Some time ago there was a long discussion about float chargers regarding brands, costs and such.
This post is a kind of follow-up wondering about longevity. Did the ones from Harbout Freight last? What about others? What about performance? Some work better than others?

Thanks

SEL General Stationary Engine Discussion Forum / Faultless Magneto
« on: April 22, 2008, 03:07:36 PM »
Anybody out there who knows anything about the origin of these magnetos?
The tag on one says magneto, but they are more like an auto sparker. One is sold by John M. Smyth MDSE. Co. and is called Faultless Magneto.  The other is tagged by Henricks Novelty Co. Both are generally alike except for some small differences. Both are rated at 1500 RPM. Both have the leather drive and governors.
Thanks

These were taken about 40 miles south of Sacramento, CA in the rolling hills along the Sacramento river. They were hanging in my grandfather's gun house.
