ATIS General Tractor Discussion / Cockshutt 50 Winter pic
« on: December 27, 2009, 11:50:55 PM »
Just a test and I have always liked this shot from 37 years ago of my Dad plowing snow in front of our new farm shop that we worked on that winter.

'round the pot-bellied stove / Nice looking LA Case on Kijiji
« on: December 23, 2009, 11:30:29 AM »
Since theres no mention of Case on these forums I thought I'd mention it here. This LA looks pretty nice and was running when parked. It does not say when it was parked though.:)

'round the pot-bellied stove / Not a pot bellied stove
« on: October 12, 2009, 11:05:53 PM »
Thought this was an appropriate place to post this neat old stove picture. A friend has it stored in the garage and wants to get rid of it. I like it but really don't need it. Its a big heavy parlour stove in apparently good working condition. A Findlay Circulator #20 made in Ontario, Canada. Anybody ever heard of the name or if they are much in demand?

ATIS General Tractor Discussion / Motherwell Homestead Threshing
« on: September 07, 2009, 11:23:44 AM »
Took a few pics at the Motherwell Homestead threshing demonstration on Sept. 6. One of the exhibits was this miniature Case steamer. Just like the big ones, even had a whistle :D

'round the pot-bellied stove / Harvest 1957
« on: August 15, 2009, 04:49:22 PM »
Thought I'd post this vintage harvest photo a friend sent me. His Dad and brother riding the John Deere D pulling a Case model K combine. Harvesting spring wheat most likely in September or late August of 57. This would have been a fairly typical harvest outfit in those days although there were plenty of self propelleds around by that time too .

ATIS General Tractor Discussion / LA Case

Something for the Case guys. This nice looking old LA sold dirt cheap at the auction sale this week. Engine seized but everything was there, good rubber and paint and all the sheet metal was straight. Even had that nice Case eagle emblazoned on the mag. A lot of tractor for $175.

IHC / Auction sale of old iron
« on: June 30, 2009, 11:41:43 AM »
One of the more interesting farm auction sales I have ever attended was yesterday. Long rows of rusty machinery, tractors and trucks. Some with seized engines and I don't recall any of them that were running. Huge accumulations of scrap iron with some real gems hidden away. I brought home a good clean exhaust/intake manifold for my IH BD truck engines. I spotted a pile of 50s vintage chrome bumpers stacked up like firewood under the trees, not even sold. This Farmall H looked pretty good but the rear rims had disintegrated from the chloride in the tires and it was not auctioned, as well as this front half of an L-185 IH truck. I figured the nose piece from the Cockshutt 40 tractor that was laying in the cab of this truck would likely bring as much as the entire truck if the right buyer was around.
Oh well, it was as good (or better) than a day at the museum. :)

'round the pot-bellied stove / Photo albums
« on: February 23, 2009, 03:17:44 PM »
Finally got around to putting a few of my old photos into an album here at the forum. Mostly of the Cockshutt 40 and 50 involved in various tasks around the farm back in the 1970s (or earlier).

'round the pot-bellied stove / An International but not a tractor
« on: July 10, 2008, 03:29:59 PM »
Thought I'd post a pic of one of my INternationals even though it is not a farm tractor it is from the same family. This one I bought in 89. Its a 56-57 model S-160 that I use occasionally as a water truck. When the old Adirondack green paint is cleaned up and waxed it looks not too bad at all. Odometer reads just over 18,000 miles.

IHC / McCormick Deering W9
« on: June 28, 2008, 02:47:16 AM »
Thought I might try posting one of my pics from our little town's parade in 2005 showing a McCormick Deering W9 pulling what I think was also a McDeering thresher.

'round the pot-bellied stove / Cockshutt 30
« on: April 19, 2008, 11:37:22 AM »
Since we are under a winter storm warning here on April 19 I thought I would post this old picture from 1973 showing a friend's Cockshutt 30. They were belting it up to the grain chopper to grind cattle feed. In the background is another sight we don't see anymore. The CP rail train as it has either just dropped off empty grain cars or picked up full ones in town. No more elevators or trains for  the last few years.

'round the pot-bellied stove / Sundogs
« on: February 11, 2008, 11:47:15 PM »
Signs of a cold day. The weather phenomena known in this area as "sundogs" usually appears on a cold frosty winter morning although they can last throughout the whole day. Not the kind of day to be sitting out on an open tractor.  In some conditions they will also appear in the summer.

ATIS General Tractor Discussion / Parts tractor

This one is listed as for parts but it looks fairly complete and restorable to me. Nice old Minni U. Coming up at a farm auction in Sask. this spring.

'round the pot-bellied stove / Harvest of 86
« on: January 14, 2008, 01:23:58 AM »
Things are a little slow here  on the forum lately. How about we take a look at a picture from the harvest of 1986 at which time my brother brought an old Massey Harris 26 out of retirement to thresh out a few bushels of oats one day. The 20 foot swath was heavy and made for slow forward motion.

Heres a scan of a page from the early sixties Case farm equipment brochure. It shows the Case model 1010 ag crawler.
