ATIS General Tractor Discussion / Another new toy, JD 60 Orchard
« on: June 23, 2010, 09:06:45 AM »
This is the one I mentioned on the list.  It's one of 297 made, wasn't looking for it, it just kind of found me.

ATIS General Tractor Discussion / Still Kicking, new toys

I thought the forum was dead as I haven't been able to get on for a few months, not sure why.  Anyway, I thought you might like to see some pictures of my newest project.  I really don't know when/if I will ever get it done, but it's something I've wanted for awhile.

I wondered how I ended up with so many messages that had nothing to do with the original topic.  I guess everyone starts to wander now and then, at least the list comes alive every now and then.

'round the pot-bellied stove / Propane Tank Question
« on: March 08, 2010, 03:18:40 PM »
Thanks Guys.  They are 30-lb tanks, and I did some checking around and new ones can be had for around $60 each.  I'll probably just go ahead and buy new ones.  It wouldn't hurt to change out all the lines and fittings anyway, at least there will be less chance of the gas leaking out through a hold in the line (which would probably cost more than the new tanks).  I really want to try and get the generator fired up on the trailer I bought late last year, getting new tanks will be the first step.  I am alos on 32's now, so I seem to have quite a bit of time on my hands.

'round the pot-bellied stove / Propane Tank Question
« on: March 04, 2010, 03:34:26 PM »
Boredom prevents me from giving up on this forum quite yet, and I have been having problems posting to the main list so here's my question:  I purchased a trailer with two 30-lb propane tanks to feed the heater and generator.  The tanks have the old style fittings on them.  Can I just switch out the fittings or do I have to buy new tanks?  I think I also heard that as long as it was an RV I could get the old tanks filled, but I haven't tested that theory yet.  Does anyone know?

ATIS General Tractor Discussion / Spring Sales
« on: February 22, 2010, 01:29:27 PM »
If anyone knows of and decent tractor auctions in the mid-west this spring, please post them.  I'm starting to really look forward to going to a few sales when the snow melts, but haven't seen too much out there.  Even the Aumann web site has very few listed.

Does anyone know the back story on this? Was he the owners grandson, son, or just some fictious kid who ended up on the logo?

I think I know now!  Is it the Waterloo Boy from the tractor logo?  I'm pretty sure I'm right, but I also know I am often wrong.  Did I get my baloon Charlie?

'round the pot-bellied stove / Squirrels and Weather

I think the squirrels do get more active just before things turn colder.  In Michigan we seem to have more and more of them because no one really hunts them anymore.  I have two younger boys who really enjoy shooting at them, they even give them names, then make a game out of hunting "Nuts" or "Crazy", ect.  I have no idea how they can tell them apart, but at least it keeps them occupied during the winter.

I would guess it's the Malt-o-meal boy (or something like that).

ATIS General Tractor Discussion / Posting Pictures
« on: January 12, 2010, 12:46:08 PM »
To extend on what Charlie said, your status only has to do with the number of posts, I became a "member" after 50 posts, with a long-term goal of being a 'senior' member before my AARP card arrives :D  It's really nothing more than an indication of how active you are.

I wonder if you picture posting problems have something to do with your connection speed.  I have a high speed connection at work and have been able to post pictures rather easily (and I know little to nothing about computers).

ATIS General Tractor Discussion / First tractor YOU bought
« on: January 12, 2010, 09:44:19 AM »
My first tractor was a Case SC.  I was visiting with a client and noticed it sitting in the weeds behind his pole barn.  He told me one of his workers had borrowed it and it developed a knock, so they parked it out back and let it sit.  He sold it to me for $100.  I remember calling my wife and telling her I had just bought a tractor and she was not happy about it, but I asurred her I wouldn't get to carried away with it, just something to play with (this was before we had kids).  The tractor had a bent pust rod, which I straightened out in my vise, then put it back in.  Ever since then it has run perfect and still is one of the easiest starting tractors I own (I did not keep my promise to my wife, I am now infested with 20+ tractors).

I also named my first son Case, after the tractor, of course.  For the record, my second tractor was an Oliver, which is also the name of my second son...

'round the pot-bellied stove / 8000 Contest!
« on: December 02, 2009, 02:05:58 PM »
Geore, we only have 135 members since the forum started, so using less than complex math, that is aboure 50 members a year, so if we keep up the current rate, it will only be 160 years to reach 8000 members, so it looks like my guess should be DEcember 1, 2170.  Please let me know when I win :)

I'm posting just so you know I'm here.  I read the boards almost everyday, although most days there is nothing new.  I am a little short on things to post right now, but I am always greatful for the answers I receive when I do post.

ATIS General Tractor Discussion / enclosed trailers
« on: November 16, 2009, 09:15:51 AM »
Here's a couple of photos of my "new" trailer.  As you can see it's not perfect, but with a few cosmetic improvements it should be good to go.  I'm going to mainly use it for storage in the short-term anyway.
