This will be an attempt to share a few pictures from the '08 Pageant of steam near Canandaigua NY this past summer.  It was interesting for me to see several large old machines that I had never seen before.  Enjoy.

Nice tractors!

The Turner is the only one that I haven't seen before.

I still like the real oldies, and when I started collecting I only had steel wheeled tractors as I thought rubber tired ones were too new.  Unfortunately I sold my early tractors and now could not afford to buy replacements.  I have to be content seeing the old stuff at shows and in other collections.

Thanks for posting those pictures. You just don't see those kind of tractors at the average show here in the South.

I have a few more pictures of others at the same show that I will put up as soon as I have a chance to size them down to fit.  I really enjoyed seeing these old timers and my hat is off to those who own them and bring them to shows.

That Leader must be a pretty rare machine! I can't even recall of hearing of one of them much less seeing one. I never take pictures at shows anymore unless it is of something odd/unusual. It appears the show you were at had plenty of that!

Thanks for looking, John.  That Leader is a very impressive machine.  They were built by Dayton Dowd Co. of Quincy Ill.  It is a 16-32 model with 5" bore, 6 1/2" stroke and running at 800 RPM.  They will built for 3 years, but I do not know which three.

Hey Charlie;
The Leader 16-32 tractor was built from 1920 to 1924 by Dayton-Dowd Company. They also made a C25-40  and a GU 16-32. The C25-40 was a half track and the GU16-32 was a full crawler tractor.
This information is in  "Standard Catalog of Farm Tractors" 1890 to 1960, and written by C.H. Wendel.
